What if dragons were real?

When I first heard of a dragon, I saw it on one of those Chinese horoscope/sign calendars as a kid.

I wondered why dragons were on even on it there amongst all other creatures — rabbit, dog, rat, etc. I mean, if dragons weren’t real, then why was it included? Dragons became mythic ‘legends’ that’s been discussed for centuries through ancient tales, living stories, and campfire circles that still go on today.

To be honest, I’m the kind of person that believes any of these creatures are real. Mainly because I haven’t been on this Earth long enough to know anything about anything except the things I do know. Dinosaurs at one point existed and that sounds crazy, but that shit was not a myth. They say (as in paleontologists, archeologists, etc.) that dinosaurs were first created as land animals to test creation in its first week of life.

Can you imagine? Being on this Earth as some sort of test to prepare the world for what’s to come? That’s mind-boggling but… ironically, also makes total sense. Although, who really knows.

Why would the Universe put any of these mythic legendary tales in our wake?

I believe the stories that are passed down for hundreds and thousands of years have some kind of truth to it — however, not entirely 100% true, as stories can be skewed deep as they’ve been told to us on and on for so long, it’s unrecognizable when you hear it present-day.

In some ways, I believe the stories we keep alive ties us to the history of existence and to the aching questions on what it even means. Creation, that is.

Life is weird. And fragile. And seems totally temporary. And I honestly hope if humans do go through extinction, we evolve into mermaids. That’d be dope.
